  2. Island Dream
    By: Sara J. Figueroa

People in Puerto Rico loves that everyone speak well of their island. When puertoricans go on vacation to another part of the world like to put the beautiful island in their hearts, and anywhere they go puertoricans represent their island with pride. Many puertoricans live in the States and miss all the beautiful things this poem describes. Many believe that everything this poem say is true, but they should consider that many of the nice things in Puerto Rico are dying because of the contamination, people on this island should value more what they have because this is the island of beauty and should remain so.

  3. I choose the poem Asopao because I think that this poem represents the culture of Puerto Rico. This poem talks about the food that this mother are making with the naturals ingredients that give the touch of a delicious Puerto rican food. The child that appears in the poem describe the way when he is following the ingredients to do the food with her mother. This poem represents the way of the typical Puerto rican family that get fun and happiness when are making the great and delicious food that makes our culture very special. I think that Puerto Rican families likes eat and is an important event make food and next eat with all family. All this things represents the true culture of Puerto Rico.

  5. EN LA BRECHA
    BY: JOSE DE DIEGO.

The best poem was "En la Brecha". This poem was interesting and better than the others. All of its vocabulary its symbolic, when the poem says that we have to be like a river, to grow, this wants to say that we have to be strong and follow the path that we want to get to. Also this poem talks about that in the path, their is going to be problems, but also we have to be like el toro, that attacks the problem that has in front of him.
In Conclusion, this poem gives us the strength to keep on going and not look back, to be strong, stand up, and to get up every time we fall.

  8. En la brecha

    By José de Diego

This poem is one of my favorite poems of all time. Its classic puertorrican poem and the autor is very famous in Puerto Rico. The title is suggestive of the route of the life, the way of each individual This poem indentify the way of the life obstacles appear that we must face for being able to prevail. This it is a poem that calls to the action. in soneto “En la brecha” Jose Diego it offers a conduct code to do against the problems that daily appear to us. The autor motivated the reader to face the problems with anger . other thing , It is a full song of action and enthusiasm. It exiles the laziness and the inactivity. The demanding poetic voice, commands, orients and animates. You do not remain in your site when you are against a problem: it faces it, it attacks it, it solves give a direction us clear than we could make it finishes with a dilemma muge or it attacks, but definitively for the poetic voice better it attacks! With this final verb it is summarized the guide of action in the way of the life: En la brecha . this is poem is a call of do not surrender so fast and when the bad day comes or somethig personal that you think tha is impossible to obtain think about this poem and you become more positive person. This poem is very importan the other too, but this poem is very interesting , very cult , realistic and thoughtful. In conclusion this poem is touch everyone even for me is a great inspiration to live positive and never thing that if you fail never stop because the third time does it.

  9. I love Jose de Diego's "En la Brecha" poem. It is a poem which talks about the strengt that lives inside each and everyone of us and impulses us to keep going even in difficult times. In this moments in history we are living with worldwide economical crisis and war a poem like the one I chose helps us see that times may be difficult but not imposible. Is in times like this that real heroes are discovered.

  10. I decided the choose Jose de Diego's poem "En la brecha". The poem is very deep and beutifuly written. In todays world, with worldwide economical crisis, and war any word of encouragement is welcomed. De Diego's words are a celebration of endurance against obstacles. It inspires us to keep going, to fight for what we want even is the journey to achieve our goals is nearly impossible.

  11. The poem “La Brecha” by Jose de Diego is an inspiring poem, because it makes you think on how to act upon your problems. During our life we have difficult situation, where we must face with courage. In life no matter the circumstances, no matter what people say, or how hard the situation may be, we must persevere. We must always look forward and stay focus so that we may become victorious. The author of this poem used many similes on how we can act through different problems in life The comparisons that he uses are very interesting and challenging . Through out the lecture the author motivates you to keep on going and face life with courage.

  13. Asopao is the best poem hands down of the 4. It is very relatable and most of all the most understandable of the 4 poems posted. I'm not saying that the others were horrible, because some of them are actually interesting. But this one is more understandable and less tedious to the mind when trying to understand it; it is simply just a little girl talking about how delicious Asopao is. And as far as relatable is concerned who here hasn't at least once as a child try to help their mother in the kitchen I know I have. I mean the way she describes everything being done kind of gives you a sense that you are there in the kitchen watching your own mom as she cooks and trying to help her, you can smell the Asopao as she keeps on describing. Kind of made me hungry right know.

    ASOPAO
The poem asopao is very realistic. The asopao is a tradicional food in Puerto Rico. The people in Puerto Rico love to cook and they are very united with their family, their always make family reunions in the holidays. Children watching and helping their parents cooks is very common. Reading this poem make me live those moments.

    ASOPAO
This is the best because the asopao is original the representation of the good taste of puertorican food the puertorican person eaten asopao when the weather is cool or on chrismas or whatever day there different type of asopao for example asopao de pollo , asopao de camarones , asopao de gandules asopao de carne there much type of asopao. Have to maintain this tradition to continue making from generation to generation
That is a good poem to recorder the good culture that we have us the Puerto Rican.

  16. Jack Agüeros writes psalms. In the psalms he asks questions of God, a character in whom he may or may not believe. There is a wry social satirist at work in these poems, for the questions he asks are pointed as much at the church, or the government, or the corporate culture, or us, as they are at the inscrutable Lord. The author writes about reality experienced by the poor or needy person. Hi has a very original view, but it is a bit difficult for the reader to understand what point hi want to go. This poem is not the best in the world, compared with others, but has touch of realism, leaving the reader thinking.

  17. Asopao is the living representation of the puertorrican cooking. The ingredients used by the puertorrican cooking are the ones that put us above other countries. The asopao is a dish that almost everyone in the island like and it had been for decades in or dinning tables. Also it represent how mothers prepare to their families amazing dishes with simple ingredients and how their children help them to make this happend.

  18. the poem that i picked out was "Island Dreams". the poem writer really describes Puerto Rico so carefully and so vividly. it almost makes you feel as if you their feeling the emerald waves crash upon your feet. you can almost feel the presence of the many coquis lurking and singing in the bushes, or has she describes it "Were serenading coquis
sing Puerto Rico's lullaby" Puerto Rico is a place where u can escape from your normal activities and go on a mountain hike in a tropical rain forest, or just enjoy the night life. this is what this poem explains with great detail

The poem Island Dream when you read it, it gives Puerto Rico life, it talks about the trees the mountains and all the coquis that are singing. It describes a perfect Image of it. Puerto Rico is the best Island to go to when you go on Vacation, and the coquis singing like a majestic song in your ears. The Beautiful mountain where many people can go and relax just take a break from everything and enjoy the beautiful ness that Puerto Rico has to offer. The beautiful sea "Like a pearl in the sea" is more than a pearl, is like magical waves that touches your toes and gives you chills from the wind thats blowing becasue of all the palm trees, going all threw Puerto Rico you feel a cool breeze.

  20. I like much island dream. Each sentence expresses how wonderful it is Puerto Rico. The island dream poem makes the reader interested in learning more about Puerto Rico. Is a small island but with great treasures. I think Puerto Ricans are like the coqui, they die outside of this beautiful island. Many people want to achieve their dreams outside your country. Puerto Ricans are different we want to achieve our dreams in our island. We have a beautiful environment, excellent weather, the song of the coqui and the best the island dream.
