1. The overpopulation in Puerto Rico.
ReplyDeleteEach day are more people in this tiny island. The majority of Puerto Ricans families have 2 cars or more and by consequence we can see every day heavy traffic and less parking.
2. The increase in crime.
More people die by problems related with drugs. This is a war and the goal is to be "the owner" of an specific area.
3. The benefit of having your own car.
The transportation in Puerto Rico is limited. If you do not have a car you are in problems because the privates taxis is so expensive and mostly the public transportation don't take you at your exact destiny.
4. The life-style of the young people (12-16 years).
They are always relax. They don't have huges debts like the payment of a house. They only thinks in play basketball, play volleyball, play playstation, xbox and only play, play and more games.
5. The hectic life of the worker class.
This peoples have to work to be a great provider to their families. This people have to helps their children with the school, homeworks and projects.

1.Technology vs. Parent – youth relationships .
ReplyDeleteTechnology has had a major impact on how parents and kids relationship are no longer the same. Nowadays teens spend more time sharing their problems, hobbies and expectations on internet with individual they meet overnight in chat rooms. As a result, teens have lost their trust in parents, their connection, and their family values.
2.Crime in Puerto Rico
Crime scene in Puerto Rico has reached his highest point. Daily newspapers are pointing out murders, abuses, fights and thefts. To decrease crime rate is one of the most significant goals that the government should pursued.
3.Public transportation
Public transportation is vital in each country, as it is a resource that creates jobs and helps in the economic area. Many people do not have the funds to purchase their own vehicle. This is why public transportation is a convenient solution.
4.Women´s responsability
Women’s life are full of tasks. Some include taking care of their children, husbands, chores around the house, and having a fulltime job. In addition, helping out with homework, and being an all around mom. It’s a 24 hour nonstop job.
5.Time for our health? In such a hectic life that we live in we do not take time for our health. Although, realized that exercise is very important to improve our quality of life we don’t take emphasis in promoting it.

ReplyDeleteGlobal warming affects the flora and fauna of PR Because of this problem we see many changes in forests, beaches and rivers of my country. The heat also makes us feel tired.
2-The corruption in P.R.
The government these days is corrupted. I think the cause of this change is the major interests of the people who have the power.
3-The economy in my country.
The economy is worse in this days. Each time there are more people without jobs and get a job is more difficult, is something that affects everyone.
4-The people in Puerto Rico.
People in my country have changed their way of being. The cause of this problem is because people do not trust anyone. In my country there is fear because in these days everything is solved with guns and violence.
5-The lifestyle in Puerto Rico.
The lifestyle has changed and the reason for this is because now people want everything fast. We can see how our lives are busy and we want everything easy, so we eat at fast foods and that affects our health.

ReplyDeleteThey are multi-task, they pay attention to her husband, children, job, oh my God. This is not should be easy. Today the women are full of duties. Is like an octopus, they can drive to the job, with one hand they put the lipstick, at the same time they are talking by the cellphone in speaker and they can pay attention to her children.

Angel said that Making meal at home is more healthy than fast food because of the saturate fats. I agree with that because in fast foods the meal is high in cholesterol and carbohydrates and low in vitamins and protein. (vegetables and grains). An unbalaced diet.
ReplyDeleteEdcel said that The transportation in PR is limited. I agree with Edcel because you don’t have many choices for public transportation in PR. At least in a small town your only choice is call a cab and wait; and it is an expensive way and you loss a lot of time.
I agree with Charles because PR is a paradise island, because you can found a lot of beautiful beaches, beautiful landscapes with an exotic flora and fauna, also historic places, and many things to do. It is a good place for vacations.

Liliana talked about the technology vs parents, and I understand that technology takes time between the family. Someone sits in front of a computer and stay there like a zombie, I may add that these days the parents are the ones using technology more than their sons.
ReplyDeleteEdcel talked about the hectic life of the worker class, and I say, the worker class work practically 24 hours, since the moment they open the eyes there something to do. And with the challenges of today’s life there’s a lot of work to do.
Charles M.M said, the construction of modern highways are going to fix the traffic problems, but I’m not so sure about that. I think the over population is more the problem, take san Juan for example, they have highways, and still they get tremendous traffic jams every day.

ReplyDeletePeople in Puerto Rico aren't limited to their parents old school traditions. Society today is learning how to step out of their limited and conservative environments to achieve something greater.
2. Technology
Advances in life impacts everyone in the world due to the fact things become increasingly easier to do. For example the story we read for homework told about a girl that was chatting with her friend in china.
3. Over population
In another 10 years this will become a huge issue if the government doesn't intervenes with this problem. A good solution would be to continue to build more roads.
4. Crime
I have to agree with the story again. even though i believe that people today are committing more felonies, i would have to agree with the story as well because now you can turn on your television to CNN and see people committing crimes Europe.
5. Economy
Today's economy has really hindered us to the point that people are still jobless. There has to be a change. If nothing happens expect a lot of suffering.

1. Traffic Problem in Puerto Rico. We can talk about the major causes of traffic in the Island and ways of how to mediate this problem, possible solutions.
ReplyDelete2. Overworked parents and how the family is affected by this. Here we could learn why most parents are overworked, reasons they have for working more than two or three shifts a day and how this affects the families togetherness.
3. Single Parents. Today in Puerto Rico there are more single parent families than two parent families. We can discuss the reasons why, the many factors that influence this type of parenting and the major causes, one of which is teenage pregnancy.
4. Bad eating Habits in our country today. Most of which are influenced either by the lack of time to prepare a healthy homemade dinner or exhaustion from our daily life routine and the ease of just picking up the phone saying what you want to eat open the door pay the delivery boy/girl and enjoying dinner without having to leave the house.
5. Technology and how it has affected P.R. today, good or bad. Many of our advances in society are due to modern technology, but is this taking away our social skills? More people in P.R. today rely on Facebook, Twitter and/or Myspace to meet new people and sometimes establish a certain relationship, whether it be friendship or something more. It's the same thing that you can do in person, but more people think that it is easier this way. On the other hand modern technology has also changed the way we learn and the way we live our lives, made it a bit easier. These are things we can talk about under this topic.

Almost every means of public transportation in Puerto Rico only exists in the Metro Area. But Puerto Rico is more than just the Metro Area, what about us? Why don't we get an urban train? why don't we get A.M.A. buses? we are part of Puerto Rico too and we need as well as them, means of transportation.

Because at that age all I thought about was getting a job to help support my family, I never had it that easy as a child because of my families economic situation. Sure at that age one is young and well tends to think about parties and whats more appealing to ones age, but that doesn't mean that absolutely everyone has it easy and is relaxed, I mean how can you be relaxed when you see your whole family about to collapse under the pressure of economic problems?.
3. The technology. by Aaron Perez. I agree with what he says here. Technology can be either a good thing or a bad thing it all depends on who and how the person uses it. Because the sole purpose of technology is to make our daily live a little bit more easier.

1. The rush we have in the morning in Puerto Rico. For example, we can see that not only the women have rush in the morning but all so the men have a rush because sometimes the men stay alone with the children and has to do the work of a women.

3. The parking space. Well we all know about the parking space because when we are always in a place some people take double parking and than we have to look somewhere else. The problem is that some people think its better to take two parking, than other people have to go around like five times just to get a parking space.

Well I'm a little late with this assignment but here present my topics!
ReplyDelete1. Loss of social values.
We can discuss how the values have been lost in the society, as it affects and how we can help change it individually.
2. Encourage the use of tourism as a source of employment.
This is a factor that Caribbean countries have in their favor and they can use in their favor. We can present plans or ideas to increase tourism on the island.
3. The increase of single mothers.
It is very common in our society and that greatly affects the stability of it. You can submit ideas on how to prevent this from happening, or how the mothers can continue their lives and be productive women.
4. The increase in sexually transmitted diseases.
For many it is a taboo topic, but is a reality today. We can talk about what are the diseases, how they affect the population, and as can be prevented.
5. The music as part of culture.
This is a topic that we talk a lot. It may be mentioned as the music has influenced the culture, lifestyle, and economically. Also we can talk how the music has changed through the years.

1. Nowadays Increasing Criminality - Among the last years, criminality in our country has increased abruptly, making our newspapers a wave of violence.This is because of the absence and loose of employment.
ReplyDelete2. Lack of Communication Among Puertorrican Families - Each day families are more separated because everyone lives in their own world and there is no communitication between the members of the familiy, even if they live in the same house.
3. Birth Control and Overpopulation in Puerto Rico - I consider that the goverment of Puerto Rico should establish a law in order to reduce the number of children that a couple should have. By this way the problem of overpopulation would be controled and the traffic jams will be significantly reduced. Also, it would be easy to find a parking lot.
4. Technology in Our Family - Nowadays technology is very helpful in our works and it is an excellent source of information and communication, but it also put apart our families since people stay long hours in the computers and video games and do not share with their family.

1- Children and young people have the right to be safe. The protection of children and young people is the responsibility of families and the community. Tragically, child abuse is more common in families than many people think because it's often hidden.
ReplyDelete2-It wasn't too long ago that mobile phones were rare. Now it seems most people carry one. Mobiles keep people connected, provide entertainment, and can be used for keeping organised and saving money. However, mobiles can also create big debt problems.
3- Money is that important thing that we all need in order to survive. We all want it for different reasons, and some of us value it more than others. Trying to make it work for you can be the difficult part, particularly if you are getting it for the first time and feel overwhelmed. For many young people money problems can affect their health.
4- Gangs and gang violence appear in movies and in the news from time to time. But what is the reality of gangs, crews, or organised crime?
5- There are many things in life that cause us stress. Simple things like finding a car park, or choosing what to wear when you go out, all cause us stress. There is a small amount of stress in most activities. Stress is a normal reaction to external stimulie, to what's going on around us. We use stress to push us to make decisions.

I agree with him about how we spending money, and many time is unnessesary, because a lot of time we buy things that are "chucherias", that really we don't need it. i saw in this country that many people dont have money but if you go to the mall you can saw all the people there and the place is so full, every body that no have money to prepare food in their home are there too buying fast food, that is important that the goverment take action with this crisis.

I agree with her because in today's day we can see women's that have all responsability of their hause, in time that "el gallo canta" we are making a lot of things before living to work, or in my case to go to study, many womens that have right hand "husband" many of them dont help in nothing, they look their wives go araund and around,making food, cleaning the hause and he only said " honey, can you bring me a glass of juice", is incredible the things that the women have to do in this word.

ReplyDeleteMarried women now in days have the responsibilities of being mothers and the task of bringing home an income. People have been brain wash into a materialist society, creating the necessity of dual working parent.
-Public Transportation
One cannot depend on public transportation, because of the lack of resources. Everyone relies on their cars, reason why traffic jam is found in every corner of the island.
-Advance technology
The problem in P.R. is that people do not use technology correctly. Instead of using it to their benefit, it becomes a distraction. Technology could easily be used to our advantage.
-Roads conditions
The grand majority of the roads are in critical conditions. Making driving a lot more complicated, resulting in more accidents and more vehicle damage.
-Over population
Over population creates great economical necessities for the government. In every aspect the whole population gets affected. More importing of every resources, since the demand will be a greater than the supply.

Edcel Torresis correct, but he forgot the water important. The water is crucial for your brain cells and every organ in your body (including your skin) to work properly. For your body to burn fat, it needs at least eight glasses of pure water daily. Water not only satisfies your thirst, it reduces hunger and flushes out toxins. Liquids such as soda and coffee actually deplete your body of water. Do drink your water - it makes your whole body feel good!
ReplyDeleteI agree with aron Pérez Lugo. The citizen have mandatory responsibilities, such as paying taxes, register for the draft, and duties not demanded by law, such as voting.
I agree with Krystie Pineiro. The family communication is very important, parents need be curious. Ask questions about their ideas and feelings. Get to know them and their world. Be ready to hear things you may not agree with. Make the time to talk with your teen. Take advantage of everyday opportunities or plan an activity for just the two of you—something as simple as watching a video, having lunch together, or taking a ride or walk in the park.

1. It's technology good or bad.
ReplyDeleteTechnology has come to us to make this easier to us. In our hands is to make it a good or bad tool for us an our children. Guiding them and telling them the truth about the bad things that they can find using different technology sources can be the difference between a good or bad use of it.
2. Puerto Ricos Public transportation service.
It is known for all of us the this country suffers from not having a proper public service for all their citizens. Today it is not a luxury to own a car, it is a need. Our government should make an issue of this and compromise to give a better service.
3. The crime grows every minute.
It is not a secret than in the past 10 or 15 years we had seen an increase of crimes and killing around the country. Right now I don't feel safe anywhere. You go to the supermarket, someone robs you or someone shots you by mistake, where are we living in a country or in a war zone??
4. Puerto Ricos overpopulation
Our population is growing every day. A normal family would have 1 or 2 cars most, now a normal family has one car for each member. Do you imagine for example,if every family would have 5 children plus their parents they would have 7 cars per house. If you multiply that it will be huge.
5.Our teenagers lifestyle
Today everything it about the looks, the technology and the more and the best things that you have. Our teenagers suffer from a lot of pressure that sometimes make them things that they can regret later.

I agree with Liliana in the parents and children relationship vs. technology, sometime parents are to busy doing their shores and working or taking care of the little ones that they don't imagine were their kids are looking for answers and quality time, and the worst part is that someone can get advantage of the situation.
ReplyDeleteAlso I agree with Sonja with the fault of public transportation. Why only a minimum part of PR can enjoy the benefits of an almost complete public transportation service. PR is more than the metropolitan area.
And for third I agree with Aaron, as citizens of this country we have responsibilities with our country like paying taxes every year etc. Now were is all than money? We we don't have a decent public transportation service for all of us? That is why we doubt that we can see any progress in here.

Culture is a series of visual manifestations and interactions with the environment that make a region and/or a group of people different from the rest of the world. Puerto Rico, without a doubt has several unique characteristics that distinguish their culture from any other.
2 The food of Puerto Rico
Although Puerto Rican cooking is somewhat similar to both Spanish, Cuban and Mexican cuisine, it is a unique tasty blend of Spanish, African, Taíno, and American influences, using such indigenous seasonings and ingredients as coriander, papaya, cacao, nispero, apio, plantains, and yampee. Locals call their cuisine "cocina criolla".
3 The beaches of Puerto Rico
White sandy beaches put Puerto Rico and its offshore islands on tourist maps in the first place. Many other Caribbean destinations have only jagged coral outcroppings or black volcanic-sand beaches that get very hot in the noonday sun.
4 The forest of Puerto Rico
The El Yunque Rain Forest is a cool, mountainous, sub tropical rainforest. The Eastern side of the Luquillo Mountains, which has the El Yunque rainforest at the top elevations, gets most of the rain.
5 The agriculture of Puerto Rico
The agriculture of Puerto Rico is specialized and commercial, devoted primarily to crops which can be sold in the United States. It is subject to all the hazards of an external market in which other tropical countries compete, and its shippers are never certain about the stability of their tariff protection, which corresponds to that given similar industries on the mainland. But there is no alternative to specialization within the existing tariff walls and the system of market distribution based on quotas.
